Well, it may not be a traditional Valentine’s image, but when we found this lovely big heart-shaped blackberry in our soft fruits last year we couldn’t resist taking its photograph!
Berries grow really well in Scotland, so we usually use locally grown soft fruits in our fresh fruit salads whenever we can get them. I’m not sure why berries grow so well up here, or why they taste so good, but it must be something to do with the clean air and clean water, and maybe our long summer days.
If you are visiting Inverglen Guest House in Inverness for Valentine’s Day, remember to pre-book a restaurant for your special meal. We would recommend The Fig & Thistle Bistro, Cafe 1, The Riverhouse or Rocpool for a more romantic evening for two. You can find details of these on our restaurants’ page. If you want to build up an appetite you might also want to spend the day at Attadale Gardens, who will be hosting an event for the snowdrop festival on 14 February 2018.
Wishing you a very happy Valentine’s day wherever you are, and whoever you are celebrating with.
