We are accredited

Inverglen Guest House offers a safe place to stay.

We may be keeping a respectful distance, but that does not mean we cannot be sociable.

Our operating procedures provide the safe environment you demand and allow us to deliver the friendly personal service we have become known for.

We are accredited under the “We’re Good to Go” scheme supported by Visit Scotland, our national tourism body

Summary of our Safety Procedures

  • We have implemented procedures that respect social distancing without being anti-social.
  • Face covering must be worn at all times whilst moving about the house, this does not include your room. It can only be removed when are seated at the dining table for breakfast.
  • We have reduced the chances of the virus ever entering the property by allowing people who are concerned they have the virus to cancel and re-schedule free of charge.
  • Our check-in procedure promotes safe distancing whilst ensuring you have all the information you need for a great stay.
  • A great breakfast remains a key part of our service. Tables will be suitably distanced and time slots will operate. The food will still be the star.
  • We have always been “top-notch” at cleaning (just see our reviews), but we will be elevating this even further. Rooms will be left vacant for at least 48 hours between guests and we are stepping up the cleaning regime.
  • We have increased the airflow throughout as is recommended to dissipate water droplets that can transmit the virus.
  • Sanitising stations are located throughout the property
  • Contactless payment in operation

Socially Distanced – Not Anti-Social

Social distancing observed

Social distancing is a phrase we have all become familiar with in recent months. However, keeping a respectful distance needn’t be anti-social.

For everyone’s safety, we are operating with social distancing as far as is possible. The detail of how this works is explained under the various headings below. However, this does not mean that we won’t be there for you when you have a question or need help.

There is always someone on-site and are available at most times to help you. As far as possible we will still be able to have a good old fashioned conversation, albeit from a little farther apart than normal. We will also have electronic contact methods available should you prefer.

To further enhance our social distancing credentials we are operating with a maximum of just three guest bedrooms in use at any one time. We have reduced our maximum occupancy from 11 guests to just 6 guests.

Stay Safe & Well

Protecting each other from Covid-19

We want everyone to stay safe and well. The best way to do this is to minimise the risk of the virus ever entering the property. So, if within 14 days of check-in you have:

  • had Covid-19 symptoms
  • been tested positive for Covid-19 (or are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test)
  • knowingly come into close contact with someone who has had Covid-19 symptoms or tested positive for Covid-19

You will not be allowed to check-in and will be asked to return home as per Government guidelines on traveling.

If you cancel because of any of the above, we will allow you to reschedule free of charge.

If you should exhibit virus symptoms or be tested positive while staying with us, you will be asked to check out and return home as per Government guidelines on traveling.

In addition, if you are advised to self-isolate by the official Test and Protect service operating in Scotland (or similar service) you will once again be asked to check out and return home as per Government guidelines on traveling.

Should you decide to self-isolate with us you will be charged for every additional night you spend with us. You must always remain in your bedroom during self-isolation. We can arrange to have extra food and medical supplies delivered to your room, but this will be charged for. Full details can be found under our terms and conditions.

International GuestsMany guests who have traveled from overseas are required to self-isolate on arrival into the UK and/or Scotland. If you are arriving from one of these restricted countries you will be asked to advise details of the address at which you self-isolated for the required period (currently 14 days). If you are unable to provide this information you will be denied entry to Inverglen Guest House.

Safe Check-In Process

Safe check-in process

We will contact you by phone or email a few days before your stay to agree a check-in time. This will ensure arrivals are spaced out so different groups don’t check-in at the same time.

To change your time slot just give us a telephone call and we will agree on a new time slot with you.

Please do not arrive outside your agreed time slot as we may be away from the premises (obtaining groceries for example) and you will be unable to get in.

We will personally check you in whilst maintaining a 2-metre distance. Your room keys will have been disinfected and will be in the door for your room.

You will be able to download our welcome brochure to your digital devices via our free wi-fi.

Our check-in staff will be wearing face coverings in public areas and we would encourage you to do the same. Unfortunately, we cannot provide facemasks or gloves for you, but you may bring your own.

Please also be aware that we will not be able to assist with luggage. All our rooms are accessed by climbing stairs and we recommend that you keep luggage to a size and weight you are comfortable with moving yourself.

Serving a great breakfast

A superb freshly prepared breakfast is one of the great joys of staying in an award winning B&B. Although we have had to change certain aspects of our breakfast service, our commitment to providing a great breakfast remains core to our ethos.

As required, our tables will be socially distanced so they meet or exceed government guidelines. You will be allocated a specific table to use and this will remain the same throughout your stay. Nobody other than you will use that table during your stay.

Breakfast is pre-ordered the evening before to minimise your contact with serving staff.

As per the government guidelines, we are unable to provide our normal breakfast buffet option. However, you will find plenty of items available on the pre-order menu.

To keep you safe our staff will wear face coverings while serving breakfast.

Again, for safety, hand sanitiser is provided in the breakfast room. Please use this both when you arrive in the room and when you leave.

Any unused consumables will be removed at the end of the breakfast service and will be disposed of or disinfected and reused as appropriate.

All crockery, cutlery, and glassware (even if it has not been used) will be washed and sanitised at a high temperature in a dishwasher.

After the breakfast service we will thoroughly clean the breakfast room. The room will not be accessible until the following morning.

We appreciate that you may prefer not to eat in the breakfast room so we will be offering a “takeaway” continental style breakfast for those who would like it. This breakfast in a bag will be available for you to take with you from 7:30 am in the morning. Please note we are not able to provide hot beverages in the takeaway service.

Enhanced Cleaning

Covid-19 safe enhanced cleaning procedures

We have always had the highest levels of cleaning at Inverglen Guest House. However, we are increasing cleaning and disinfecting frequency throughout the guest house. This will ensure our regime is amongst the best you will find anywhere.

Our enhanced cleaning and hygiene regime will include:

  • Disinfecting room and door keys before each guest arrives to check-in.
  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning for high-touch items such as doors, light switches, and stair banisters.
  • Leaving all guest bedrooms empty for at least 48 hours between guests
  • Ensuring all hard surfaces and items are treated with approved products
  • Treating fabrics such as curtains, headboards, upholstered chairs, and the like with anti-bacterial soft surface spray.
  • Removing decorative cushions, blankets, and bedspreads from bedrooms
  • Removing tissue boxes from bedrooms and replacing them with individual packets of tissues. Unused packets will be removed and replaced with new items for the next guests.
  • Ensuring all consumables (e.g. tea, coffee, milk, toiletries, toilet rolls, etc.) are removed from guest rooms at the end of each stay and replaced with new items for the next guest. This will be done even if the items are unused.
  • Removing all towels, face cloths, and bathmats at the end of each stay and replacing them with new items.
  • Ensuring that all cups/mugs and teaspoons are removed from bedrooms between guests and washed at high temperatures before being re-deployed to bedrooms.
  • Washing all bed linen and towels at high temperatures.

All bedrooms will be deep cleaned between guests.  Each room will be left vacant for at least 48 hours between stays.

During your stay rooms will not be serviced to minimise the opportunity for introducing the virus into the room.

Procedures will be in place for ordering extra supplies of consumables such as tea, coffee, milk, toilet rolls, soap, shampoo and the like. You will also be able to obtain fresh towels and extra pillows if required.

Increased Air Circulation

Increased air ciculation

We have increased the air circulation within the property as much as the Scottish weather will allow. This is recommended to minimise the spread of COVID-19. Circulating air dissipates the droplets that transmit the virus more effectively than still air.

Windows to guest bedrooms will be left open (weather permitting) prior to your arrival. The kitchen window is fitted with an insect screen and will be left open throughout the breakfast service, and during the cleaning of the dining room after breakfast.

The front door to the property will be left open at intervals during the day (only when we are present to ensure security).

Sanitising Stations

Sanitising stations

Alcohol-based hand sanitising are located:

  • At the entrance to the property
  • In the breakfast room
  • On the top floor landing

Please use these stations when entering the property and also when entering and leaving the breakfast room.

Electronic contactless payment

We are operating an electronic payment service for any outstanding balances due. You will not have to use a payment machine. Please be aware that we can only accept payment by MasterCard or Visa.

Checking Out & Baggage Storage

Check out Process

We request that all rooms are vacated promptly by 10am on the day of departure. This is required as our cleaning staff will be arriving shortly after 10 am and if guests are still checking out it may not allow us to maintain social distancing.

Please leave the door key in the lock (exactly as you found it when checking-in). These keys will be disinfected by our staff.

Please make sure that you take all your belongings with you. Any items left in the room will be removed and disposed of. We will not be able to return any forgotten items to you.

Unfortunately, you will be unable to leave any items with us for later collection.

Guest Lounge & Public Areas

To aid social distancing our guest lounge will remain closed for the time being. We also ask that you do not congregate in public areas within the premises.

A Big Thank You

Inverglen Guest House would like to say a big thank you to all NHS staff and key workers from many sectors for the fantastic work they have been doing and continue to do. We also want to thank our team members and partners who have helped us stay safe and develop the safety protocols that will help us keep everyone on our premises safe.

Lastly, we want to thank our local community for rising to the challenges we have all faced. Many businesses and individuals have worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate than themselves We will do our best to remember your hard work and ensure your efforts do not get forgotten. We would like to encourage our guests to shop locally, from small independent businesses wherever possible, to help these companies to recover as quickly as possible from the negative financial impact that COVID19 has had for them.
