Ask anyone you know to name something that is typically Scottish, and you might get a range of answers. Tartan, the kilt, haggis, bagpipes will be there, but for sure people will say malt whisky! After all, it is called “scotch” for short.
A visit or tour of a distillery is on the list of things to do for many guests at Inverness Guest House whilst they are touring the highlands. Indeed, many of our bed and breakfast guests will visit more than one distillery during their holiday in Scotland. However, there are a number of whisky festivals in or around Inverness that might save you some time and money if you want to try a number of different malts and learn a bit more about them.
From 5-8 April 2018, the Inverness Whisky & Gin Festival takes place at various different venues across the city, although tickets need to be purchased in advance for the “Big Day Out” at Bogbain Farm on 7th April.
Later in the spring, the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival takes place from 3-7 May 2018 across various distilleries and in Elgin, Morayshire, including the prestigious Whisky Awards in which members of the public can get involved in choosing the category winners.
If you would like more information about visiting local distilleries or maybe taking a whisky tour, please visit our website page where there is a lot more information or ask John for advice whilst you are staying at Inverglen. Whisky is one of his favourite topics of conversation!
